Blogger to face trial over offensive Shrek image sent to Ohio senator
Political blogger D.J. Byrnes from Columbus is scheduled to stand trial on October 8 in Ohio for sending an obscene image of Shrek to state Senator Jerry Cirino. Byrnes, who pleads not guilty to telecommunications harassment, argues that his messages are protected free speech and that the law is overly broad. The case stems from Byrnes sending a pornographic cartoon image, which Cirino described as harassment, leading to Byrnes’ arrest at the Ohio Statehouse.
