Khartoum Refutes Abyei Massacre Link

The article addresses the escalation of the conflict in Sudan. Sudanese officials denied responsibility for the drone attack targeting the Abyei market, a disputed area with South Sudan, which resulted in the death of over 150 civilians. The Sudanese government confirmed that it was not responsible for the attack and accused the Rapid Support Forces, indicating that the strikes targeted their military bases and fuel warehouses, with no intention of targeting civilians. Additionally, the United Nations and the African Union condemned the attacks, calling for an end to the escalation to preserve humanitarian security in the region. On the ground, the Sudanese army retook areas in Blue Nile State and announced the downing of a drone that crossed in from Ethiopia. The government accuses Ethiopia of allowing its territory to be used for attacks against Sudan, and the escalation threatens to stall both the humanitarian situation and security conditions in the region.
