Houthis Impact Motorcycle Market for Military Use

The article focused on the Houthis' efforts to purchase motorcycles to direct them towards the fighting fronts in Yemen. Over the past two weeks, the group launched an intensive purchasing campaign to increase the number of available motorcycles, which are used to transport fighters, supplies, and facilitate military operations—especially in areas where heavy vehicles have difficulty crossing. This campaign has led to a significant increase in motorcycle prices, making it more difficult for workers and young people with limited income—who rely on them as a primary source of income—to afford them. Prices now range between 280,000 and 500,000 Yemeni riyals, with demand rising due to increased airstrikes and fuel shortages. Sources confirmed that using motorcycles in the war is not new for the Houthis; rather, it helps strengthen their military movements amidst the economic and social challenges faced by the population.
