Israeli Tactic Uses Hamed's Image to Intimidate Palestinians

A photo of Palestinian prisoner Ibrahim Hamed, handcuffed and legcuffed inside a solitary confinement cell during arrest and interrogation operations in the town of Salwad in the occupied West Bank, was published. This move sparked widespread condemnation and rejection. The Israeli occupation forces used the image as a means of intimidation, forcing detained citizens and threatening them regarding their fates in prisons. Activists and human rights organizations consider that exploiting Hamed’s image aims to instill fear and mislead public opinion among Palestinians, especially amid escalating violations inside prisons, including torture and deprivation of basic rights. It is noted that Hamed has been held since 2006 after leading the Al-Qassam Brigades in the West Bank, enduring many years of isolation and torture. He was sentenced to 54 consecutive life terms, and threats on his life are increasing if the policies of isolation and intimidation continue.
