ASEC Defeats MAS Fez, Quashes Group Stage Hopes
Rothna FUS team of Morocco drew 1-1 with Ivory Coast's ASEC Mimosas in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League, keeping the qualification chances open until the return match scheduled for October 25 in Abidjan. Morocco FUS took the lead through Nourddine Osama in the 31st minute, but ASEC equalized injury time (90+3) through Bama Sohleilo, giving them a slight advantage ahead of the second leg. To win and qualify for the group stage, Morocco FUS needs to win any result or draw with a higher score than 2-2; a 1-1 draw would push the match toward penalties. The team is seeking to reach the group stage for the first time in about 12 years, aiming to make up for its absence since 2012, having previously won the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Super Cup.
