Clashes at Bab al-Mandeb Strait in Yemen

Heavy fighting erupted near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in Yemen between government forces and the Houthi militia, as the government forces launched an attack to retake the area and take control of the sites held by the Houthis. They aimed to break through their fortifications and mine-laden defensive lines. The Houthis deployed kamikaze drones of the "Shavez" type to target advancing troops, amid fierce resistance from both sides, resulting in casualties and injuries. The final outcome of the attack remains unclear, as clashes continue in the area, which is strategically important due to its vital location along international shipping routes. This development is part of the "Yemen Dawn" operation launched by the government forces earlier this month, aimed at regaining control of territories held by the Houthis since they took over the strait and the Red Sea coast last September.
