Saudi Support and Egyptian Military Scope

The Egyptian presidency has called on the parliament to hold an emergency session aimed at obtaining authorization for potential military action to support Saudi Arabia, in response to the escalation of Houthi attacks on the kingdom. This request comes amid rising regional tensions and security threats to the Gulf and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, with Egypt emphasizing that it will provide only defensive support upon Saudi Arabia's request and within the capabilities of its forces, explicitly ruling out direct confrontation with the Houthis or Iran. The Egyptian move aims to protect Saudi Arabia's security and maintain regional stability, while remaining committed to the principles of the Egyptian constitution, focusing on defensive support without launching offensive strikes or engaging in full-scale military escalation.
