Sudan Conflict and Egypt-Ethiopia Tensions

A session at the Security Council featured a fierce exchange between Egypt and Ethiopia regarding the ramifications of the war in Sudan. Egypt called on the international community to take serious action based on evidence suggesting Ethiopia's involvement in fueling the conflict, and urged accountability for those responsible for violations and an end to its support for the Rapid Support Forces. In response, Ethiopia affirmed its respect for Sudan's sovereignty and expressed concern over reports accusing it of supporting both parties in the conflict, along with Sudanese accusations of direct military intervention through drones. Ethiopia also defended its security measures aimed at protecting its interests from Ethiopian expansion. Regional tensions are escalating as the conflict intensifies, with Egypt and Ethiopia emphasizing their strategic interests in the area. These developments could potentially lead to a further escalation of the Sudanese crisis.
