Egypt calls Colombian diplomat in Cairo

Egypt summoned the Colombian chargé d'affaires in Cairo today to protest the opening of Colombia's embassy in occupied Jerusalem, considering the move a violation of the city's legal and historical status and a setback to peace efforts. Egypt affirmed that Colombia's action is invalid and hinders peace initiatives based on a two-state solution. This comes amid the condemnation of the move by 19 Arab and Islamic countries. These developments follow Colombia's inauguration of its embassy in Jerusalem, which sparked widespread international opposition and calls to reverse the decision.
