Norway's Sovereign Fund Considers Nuclear Arms
The Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global (Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund) proposes re-investing in nuclear weapons manufacturing companies, including British, French, and American firms. This comes after a period during which such investments were banned due to ethical concerns. The aim is to enhance Norway's security amidst rising Russian nuclear threats and China's expanding arsenal. The current rules will be reviewed to allow investments in companies located in allied nuclear-weapon states, while maintaining bans on companies producing chemical, biological weapons, and landmines. The final decision is expected to be presented to Parliament in spring 2027.
