HRW Reports Executions in Eastern Libya

Here is the summary of the news according to the instructions: Human Rights Watch announced that the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, have carried out at least 31 extrajudicial executions since late August 2026, following secret military trials that lacked justice. These executions involved civilians being tried before military courts. The organization confirmed that at least 50 prisoners face imminent execution in Qirnada Prison. HRW warned that the executions were based on confessions obtained through torture and called for an immediate halt to executions and a moratorium on the death penalty. These calls come amid widespread criticism of the trial practices and the political and security divisions in Libya.
