Floods in Syria, Libya, Jordan kill 5
Heavy rains and floods caused by torrential rainfall have resulted in the deaths of five people, including two children, in Syria, Libya, and Jordan over Tuesday and Wednesday. In Syria, the rains led to the drowning of two children in rural Raqqa, with forecasts predicting continued rainfall and thunderstorms, especially in coastal and northern areas, amid deteriorating infrastructure due to years of conflict. In Libya, the body of another flood victim was recovered in Tripoli, and a death due to an electric shock caused by the rain was also reported. Urgent measures have been implemented to manage the affected water and electricity supplies, as many areas have suffered damage. In Jordan, search teams located the body of a young man swept away by the floods in Al-Ruwaished District after extensive search efforts. Warnings have been issued about the increased likelihood of rain and storms, with ongoing risks in several Arab countries of heavy rainfall leading to further water intrusion and infrastructure damage. Authorities continue to alert the public about worsening weather conditions and the danger of floods.
