The article reveals that Israeli gangs are using balloons and drones to smuggle drugs into Jordan, taking advantage of the high market prices there, which reach approximately $9,932 per kilogram, with significant price differences between the two countries. The report indicates that Jordanian security forces have intensified their operations and have so far since the beginning of 2026 intercepted over 15,000 tablets of Captagon, 20,000 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 6,000 blocks of hashish, as part of ongoing efforts to prevent smuggling across the borders. Despite these measures, gangs continue to smuggle large quantities of drugs using advanced methods, while Israel restricts its security reinforcements along the border. Jordan has also affirmed its efforts to counter smuggling attempts. This comes at the same time as Jordanian efforts to stop the flow of drugs from Syria, amid increasing security cooperation between Jordan and Israel, and concerns that the Gaza war and Israeli measures in the region could bolster the networks involved in trafficking.
