Houthis worsen conditions for displaced families

The article discusses the catastrophic humanitarian situation faced by women and girls displaced in Yemen due to the recent escalations by the Houthis, where the number of displaced people has surpassed 200,000. The displaced are suffering from severe shortages of food, shelter, and clothing, in addition to weak protection services, which exacerbates their suffering—especially for pregnant women and nursing mothers who struggle to secure enough nutrition for their children. Conditions are further worsened by a lack of privacy and safety in the modest shelters, with an increasing risk of domestic violence and declining health conditions, amid insufficient humanitarian support and harsh living circumstances. Testimonies from displaced individuals like Samira and Khadija reflect the ongoing hardships of hunger, lack of protection, and absence of basic needs, along with a general sense of having no options other than to endure these inhumane conditions.
