UAE Flydubai First Officer Suspected of Plotting Attack

A public prosecutor's investigation in the UAE has revealed that an assistant pilot on a flight operated by Fly Dubai from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30, 2026, attempted to carry out a terrorist attack using an emergency axe during the flight. His goal was to seize control of the aircraft and carry out a suicide operation targeting the airport building in Tel Aviv to cause significant casualties. The suspect, who is believed to have become extremist in 2017 during his studies in Australia, was influenced by radical ideas and terrorist acts, including the September 11 attacks. He reportedly spent a period undergoing combat training and frequented a center run by individuals believed to be linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. During the flight, he assaulted the pilot and tried to take control of the cockpit, but the crew managed to regain control, and the plane safely landed in Saudi Arabia. The suspect made detailed confessions, explaining that he planned the attack alone. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether he has any accomplices or other connections.
