Libya's '4+4' Pact Challenges Incitement Speech

The "4+4" agreement between Eastern and Western Libya is an attempt to unify authority and organize elections within two years. However, ongoing political and media disputes continue to hinder the achievement of its objectives. Media outlets loyal to each side still escalate tensions by focusing on teachers' and doctors' strikes and mutual accusations. Analysts believe that political interests and media incitement are obstructing the progress of the agreement and deepening the country's divisions. Despite the signing of the agreement under UN sponsorship, doubts remain about the parties' ability to commit, especially given ongoing media campaigns and potential security tensions. It is crucial to ensure real guarantees to prevent the escalation of armed conflicts or further flare-ups.
