Yemeni Forces Clash with Houthis over Bab al-Mandab
The Yemeni government forces have launched a military operation to regain the Bab al-Mandab area from the Houthis, amid fierce clashes and limited advances, while Saudi Arabia carried out airstrikes to support them. The Houthis responded to the attack, confirming they repelled it and inflicted losses on the attacking forces. The area is of strategic importance at this stage, following the Houthis' expansion of control over the western coast, and the ceasefire between the two sides collapsed in July, with tensions rising due to escalated sieges and attacks on Saudi oil facilities.
