Israel initiates limited Gaza operation after a year

The first year of the fragile ceasefire in the Gaza Strip has seen a continuation of Israeli escalation against Palestinians, with widespread aerial and ground offensives in the area. Israeli forces carried out numerous airstrikes on residential areas in Gaza and Khan Yunis, resulting in the destruction of several homes and the killing and wounding of civilians, including children and women, while hundreds of residents have been displaced. Israeli military vehicles also advanced into several areas, digging trenches and expanding the zone marked by the “Yellow Line,” which is partially controlled by Israel. The escalation has led to the death of more than 1,478 Palestinians and over 5,000 injuries since the ceasefire began. Meanwhile, Israeli violations—including shelling and arrests—have increased to more than 5,223 incidents. Reports indicate that Israel now controls over 63% of Gaza’s territory, with the movement of civilians and humanitarian organizations restricted to about 65% of the area. The involved parties continue to discuss ways to end the escalation and restore stability.
