Yemen's Key Peace Conditions

Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah Zubauda set forth three conditions for a political process to achieve peace in the country. These include the return of institutions, restricting weapons to the state, and ensuring that decisions of war and peace are made solely by the government without sharing power with armed groups. She emphasized that the government is entering a stage of restoring the state after exhausting all opportunities for de-escalation, with the aim of ending the coup and establishing full state authority over Yemen. She also highlighted the ongoing Saudi support, which has contributed to strengthening and unifying national institutions, in addition to increasing international backing that links the state's ability to exert its authority with regional security and safe navigation. In a separate development, the Saudi-led coalition Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen announced the destruction of three ballistic missiles launched by Houthi forces towards Riyadh and Khamis Mushait. Fragments of the missiles caused material damage to civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia.
