India's Cockroaches mobilize against Election Chief
The Indian movement "The Cockroaches" has called for a sit-in in New Delhi to demand the resignation of the Election Commission Chairperson, despite not obtaining police authorization. The call follows widespread protests in Bengaluru demanding the removal of the chief from his position due to a review of voter lists that resulted in the deletion of more than 130 million people from the electoral rolls, amid accusations that the process harms government opponents. There have also been larger protests and demonstrations aimed at removing Commission Chair Gyanesh Kumar, amidst controversy over the fairness of the voter list review process and its impact on election results.
