The Yemeni government forces announced a military advancement along the western coast, achieving control over the Dhu Bab area and strategic sites around the Bab al-Mandab Strait, west of Taiz, during an operation against the Houthis. The progress included taking control of Zubaib Airport and cutting the road between Zubaib and Al-Makhja, with hundreds of Houthis besieged and some encouraged to surrender, while others fled by sea. The operation highlights the importance of controlling this region to enhance maritime security, particularly by maintaining supply lines and securing strategic exits. It also paves the way for further operations targeting areas like Makhja and possibly Hodeidah, as part of broader efforts to regain control of the coast and solidify territory against the Houthis, with a direct impact on international shipping safety in the Red Sea.
