Yemen begins effort to restore state

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, Rashad al-Alimi, announced the start of military operations to recover Yemeni lands from the Houthi group, which is allied with Iran, following the failure of efforts toward de-escalation and peace. The leadership of the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy reaffirmed its full support for Yemeni forces aimed at ending the Houthis’ threats to national sovereignty and regional and international security. This announcement comes amid intensified fighting in Taiz Province, where the Houthis have escalated their attacks, resulting in the cutting off of vital roads connecting the city to its southern rural areas and government-controlled regions, threatening to isolate Taiz from the liberated areas.
