Brazil election results expected soon
Polling stations in Brazil closed after a lengthy first round of the presidential election, in which leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of the former president, competed. Polls indicate a fierce contest between them, with a second round likely if no candidate secures more than 50% of the votes, scheduled for October 25. Flávio expresses confidence in winning outright, supported by an "protest vote," while analysts fear a refusal to accept Lula's victory if it materializes, especially amid warnings of possible foreign interference. The results of this election are significant, as they will determine the direction of the new government and impact international relations, particularly with the United States and the Southern Hemisphere.
