China accuses US Congress of false claims
China accused a committee in the U.S. Congress of "fabricating allegations" aimed at damaging China's reputation, after its chair called for the closure of two Starbucks cafes opened in Xinjiang due to alleged human rights violations. The Chinese Foreign Ministry responded by calling the American claims of genocide in Xinjiang blatant lies, asserting that the true aim is politicization and defamation of China's image. To discuss the issue, American officials, including the chairman of a committee in the House of Representatives, morally blamed Starbucks for their actions.
