NY Governor calls for sexual assault law change

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced her support for amending the state's law on sexual assault in response to a case involving gang rape at Cornell University. She confirmed that Attorney General Letitia James will now assume the role of special prosecutor in the case, as part of her efforts to address legal loopholes that allow for circumvention of victim protection laws. The call to amend the law is part of broader efforts to better protect sexual assault victims and prevent legal gaps that could undermine justice.
