Update on Jewelry Trafficking Gang Dismantling

Tunisian authorities have uncovered a criminal network involved in precious metal trading. They managed to launder approximately two tons of scrap gold over six years, using their illicit proceeds to finance real estate projects and luxury possessions. To date, six individuals have been detained, including artisans from the gold market in Sfax, as part of an investigation aimed at revealing their involvement in money laundering resulting from tax evasion, professional activity exploitation, and forgery. The investigations indicate that the network employed methods that violated laws and is considered one of the most prominent cases of illegal gold laundering against the national economy.
