President Highlights Agriculture's Security Role

The President of the Republic, Kais Saïed, affirmed that agriculture constitutes a fundamental pillar of national security and sovereignty in Tunisia. He emphasized the importance of utilizing scientific research findings and historical experiences in the agricultural sector, and the development of the olive sector through supporting small farmers, enhancing storage and export capacities—especially for Tunisian olive oil—and increasing its competitiveness in the global market. He also stressed the need to ensure fair and easier distribution of fertilizers, improve the performance of the Livestock Office, and intensify efforts to combat diseases affecting olive trees and the threats posed by the red palm weevil. Furthermore, he called for supporting initiatives to rebuild the livestock herd to achieve national food self-sufficiency and elevate the level of sovereignty.
