Work Begins on Wadi Al-Khalij Water Channel
The works of clearing Wadi Al-Khaleej in Mateur, Tunisia, have begun with the aim of improving drainage of the valley and reducing flood risks caused by heavy rains. The operation involves removing large quantities of weeds, construction debris, and household waste to increase the valley's capacity and enhance water flow. This helps protect nearby areas from flooding and reduces breeding grounds for insects and rodents. This step comes in response to the demands of residents in the affected neighborhoods, who suffered from insect infestations during the summer and feared a repetition of the floods in 2012 and 2022.
