Tunisie Telegraph: Tunisian Oud and Scandinavian Instrument Performers in Trento

The Tunisian musician and oud player, Helmi Mehdhabi, participated in a multicultural musical performance in the Italian city of Trento on October 10, 2026. The event brought together 11 musicians from Italy, Tunisia, Cuba, and India. Organized within the Philharmonic Hall as part of the "Filharmonica Casual" series, the aim was to create artistic encounters that blend musical styles from diverse backgrounds. This was achieved by mixing traditional instruments like the oud and nègéleharpa with others such as the guitar, saxophone, viola, and trumpet. The performance featured a dynamic interaction between Italian folk music and influences from Middle Eastern, African, and South American cultures, allowing space for improvisation and experimentation. Overall, it sought to express musical diversity in a cohesive and integrated manner.
