Zero Waste Transition Plan Launch

Environment Minister Habib Aouid launched the Zero Waste Transition Project in the city of Tunis with the aim of reducing pollution and converting waste into alternative energies. The project includes designating a site to establish a waste valorization facility for household and municipal waste, with the involved municipalities being La Marsa, Sidi Bou Said, and Carthage. It also supports measures to prevent plastic use, promotes extended producer responsibility, and encourages the use of non-carbon fuels derived from non-recyclable waste. The goal of the project is to improve waste management and promote sustainable valorization, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program and the Global Environment Facility. Five countries, including Tunisia, China, and Uruguay, are participating in its funding.
