Data breach at Indian State Bank

The State Bank of India was targeted in a cyberattack that resulted in the leak of personal data belonging to 3,897 customers on the dark web. The compromised information includes names, phone numbers, birth dates, mailing addresses, and loan records. The bank confirmed that customer bank balances are completely secure and that the leak does not affect the bank's core operations or financial performance. An initial analysis indicated there is no significant impact on business continuity. The bank has also enlisted the assistance of an independent cybersecurity agency to investigate the incident, amidst ongoing efforts in India to strengthen the security of the banking sector in light of increasing cyber threats.
