Benzema Exclusion Still Unresolved

In an ongoing case dating back to the 2022 World Cup, Didier Deschamps faces legal accusations after he announced the exclusion of Karim Benzema from the French national team due to injury. He sued journalist Daniel Riolo for defamation following Riolo's claims that the refusal to include Benzema was merely a false excuse to exclude the Real Madrid star. The Paris court initially ruled in favor of Riolo, considering his statements to be harsh but not defamatory. However, Deschamps appealed the decision, and an appeal hearing is scheduled for January 2027. The case involves a legal debate regarding the credibility of the journalist's claims and Deschamps' decision to exclude Benzema from the team.
