A friendly match was held at the "Monumental" Stadium in Buenos Aires, marking Lionel Messi's final game with the Argentine national team. The event was attended by a large crowd of 85,000 spectators, creating a historic farewell evening following his announcement of retirement from international football in August 2023. The farewell journey culminated with Messi's farewell appearance against the Benin national team, aimed at honoring him and bidding farewell to the fans in a proper manner, while also saying goodbye to his veteran teammates and fellow players. It is worth noting that Messi, Argentina's all-time top scorer with 125 goals, has left behind a rich legacy of achievements, most notably winning the 2022 World Cup and Copa America. The new generations are expected to take on the responsibility of carrying his title and captain’s armband, with the most pressing question remaining: who will wear the number 10 jersey after his departure?
