The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the Israeli national football team will wear black armbands during their match against Ireland to honor the victims of the October 7, 2023 attack. This follows the approval of a request submitted by the Israeli Football Association three days before the anniversary by the European Union (UEFA). The match will be held in Pécs, Hungary, behind closed doors, after the Irish Football Association moved it from Dublin due to concerns over protests supporting Palestine. Previously, the Irish team showed solidarity with Gaza in a previous match by wearing black armbands and refusing to shake hands. Meanwhile, support for current events has decreased among the public, and goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu withdrew from the squad. On the sporting level, the Israeli team currently ranks last in their group with one point, while Austria leads the group with seven points.
