Protests Spread to Seventh Country in Vienna

Tens of thousands of students protested in Vienna, Austria, against the funding allocated to universities, considering it insufficient to cope with inflation and rising costs. The protesters demanded an increase in funding from 16 billion euros to 18 billion euros to ensure job security, avoid cuts to academic programs, and maintain Austria's attractiveness as a scientific hub. The protests came after the government announced it would maintain the current budget from 2028 to 2030, amid warnings of negative consequences including job reductions and delays in scientific research. Meanwhile, the government rejects budget cuts and believes that universities should prioritize restructuring jobs according to the circumstances.
