Trump uses Cold War law for oil industry

President Donald Trump of the United States decided to rely on a law dating back to the Cold War era to support oil production and refining, considering these activities essential for national defense. Trump issued an executive memorandum to provide financial incentives for oil operations, pipelines, and fuel storage, aiming to avoid economic and structural restrictions that could hinder timely energy supplies. By 2025, U.S. oil production reached approximately 13.6 million barrels per day, making it the world's largest producer. The Defense Law was used to strengthen energy infrastructure, including expanding refineries in Texas. Additionally, a report showed that crude oil inventories decreased to 412.5 million barrels in the same year.
