Putin states military goals if talks fail

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that his country is prepared to negotiate a final peace agreement with Ukraine and the United States. However, he emphasized that Russia will continue to pursue the objectives of its military operation in Ukraine if the other party chooses a different path. He clarified that upcoming talks, scheduled for November 2026, will focus on security guarantees within the framework of a final agreement, rather than a short-term ceasefire. He also pointed out that Moscow’s demands for the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from areas in the Donetsk region—territories that Russia considers to be historically Russian lands—are still on the table. Additionally, he noted that the residents of Donetsk voted in favor of independence and reunification with Russia. Putin also criticized European countries, accusing them of launching an anti-Russia campaign, and affirmed that his country is not preparing for war with Europe.
