Public Admin and OGERO Unions Call for Strikes

The trade union crisis in Lebanon is escalating, as the Public Administration Employees' Union announced a comprehensive general strike on October 23, 2026, in protest of the worsening living conditions and the lack of response to their demands, particularly regarding salary adjustments, transportation allowances, and pension increases. Additionally, the Ogero Workers' Union announced a strike on October 22 to reject mere administrative decrees and the failure to amend workers' rights laws, with the possibility of an open-ended strike starting October 27 if the official disregard for their demands continues. These actions come amid a deteriorating economic situation and the government’s failure to respond to employees’ demands.
