FAO Provides Cash Aid to Southern Livestock Farmers

The Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), has launched a program to assist dairy farmers affected by the conflict in the south and Nabatiyeh. The program includes the provision of unconditional cash aid totaling approximately $140,000, benefiting 465 farmers, each receiving $300 to cover the costs of fodder, veterinary care, and other essential supplies necessary to sustain their production. The support aims to safeguard food security and strengthen the resilience of farmers, especially in light of the ongoing challenges and the exacerbation caused by recent conflicts, while reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to developing sustainable support programs and improving veterinary services.
