Proposal to shorten House term

Deputy George Adwan from the Strong Republic Bloc proposed a bill to shorten the term of the Lebanese Parliament's current session. He called for holding new elections due to the extended duration of the current mandate and the lack of change in political and economic conditions. He emphasized the urgent need for power transition, especially on sensitive issues like weapons and restoring the state's decision-making authority, through elections, to enable the people to choose and achieve a clear majority. He pointed out that the legal framework for conducting elections is available and that the Ministry of Interior is prepared to implement it as soon as possible, aiming to overcome the current crisis and strengthen legitimacy and democracy in Lebanon.
