Zelensky warns of Ukraine crisis

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of the potential outbreak of a new migration crisis if his country falls, pointing out that around 20 million Ukrainians could head to Europe because of the war. Despite European data indicating approximately 670,000 asylum requests in 2025 and over 683,000 individuals granted temporary protection to Ukrainian citizens, the United Nations estimates that about 6.8 million Ukrainians have left the country since late February 2022, with the migration primarily involving young people. Meanwhile, a Ukrainian center estimates a lower figure of 5.6 million people having departed since the start of the war.
