US-European Plan for Ukraine Peace

The United States and European countries are working on drafting a peace proposal to end the Russia-Ukraine war. The plan includes rebuilding Ukraine, providing Kyiv with security guarantees, and fostering economic cooperation in the energy sector, in exchange for a ceasefire along the current front lines. This initiative faces disagreements, particularly after the Russian diesel import deal approved by the Trump administration, which they see as undermining the sanctions imposed on Moscow. Ukraine is also demanding a halt to attacks on oil refineries to increase economic pressure on Russia. The proposal focuses on four main areas: reconstruction, security guarantees, economic partnership in energy, and a ceasefire along the front line. However, it faces several obstacles, including unclear control lines on the front and escalating tensions among the parties amid increasing human and economic losses.
