Taiz governor seeks to end 12-year blockade

The Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, issued an urgent national and humanitarian appeal to the leadership of the state and government, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the international community, calling for immediate action to save more than six million people in the province. This appeal comes amidst escalating military operations carried out by the Houthi group and worsening humanitarian conditions due to the ongoing siege for nearly 12 years, which has led to serious shortages of food, medicine, and fuel. The governor warned that the continuation of the current situation threatens the lives, security, and livelihoods of the residents, emphasizing the need for exceptional measures to support Taiz and ensure its basic needs are met, including support for hospitals and vital facilities.
