France calls on Palestine to reschedule elections

France expressed its regret over Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's decision to postpone the legislative and presidential elections, and called on him to reconsider the postponement. Abbas had announced the postponement of the elections scheduled for next month to September 11, 2027, also calling for presidential elections to be held simultaneously. He justified the delay by citing the security situation in Palestinian territories and the impact of Israel. France urged the Palestinian authorities to organize the elections as soon as possible to ensure the continuity of the democratic process.
