South Korea launches Arctic route to Europe

The South Korean ship "Ban Star Acru" successfully completed its first commercial voyage across the Arctic Circle between South Korea and Europe, passing through the waters of the Arctic Ocean to reach ports in Britain and other European countries, then returning to South Korea. This journey reduces the shipping time by about one-third compared to traditional routes, with plans to launch regular trips along this route by 2030, in an effort to transform the Port of Busan into a global maritime hub. The project faces challenges, most notably tensions with Western allies due to the route passing near the Russian coast, as well as logistical issues such as ice management, insurance costs, and fuel reserves.
