Boulos Talks Development in Batroun Meeting

The article focused on statements made by the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, during his meeting with the people of Batroun in Paris. He emphasized the importance of Lebanese expatriates participating in the development of their regions and supporting economic and developmental initiatives, especially given the halt of major projects due to the economic crisis. He explained that road and sewage projects planned for Batroun are facing delays, and ongoing efforts are underway to secure funding to complete them. Bassil also addressed the electricity issue, questioning the cost of importing electricity from Turkey via Syria compared to generating it through Turkish plants off the Lebanese coast. He stressed the need to improve tourism in Batroun, particularly for the Christmas season, and emphasized the necessity of reducing travel ticket prices to Lebanon to encourage more visits by the Lebanese diaspora. He called for ending airline monopolies to enhance competition. This comes as part of a tour in France, which includes organizational meetings, gatherings with the Lebanese community, and participation in a religious celebration in Paris to inaugurate a statue and relics of Patriarch Elias Peter Hoayek.
