Key Moments Following Belay's Nobel Win

Naomi Laay won the Nobel Peace Prize, as the International Criminal Court considered this award an important recognition of the role of international justice in promoting peace, especially amidst the challenges facing the rule of law. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights stated that the prize inspires and strengthens efforts to defend human rights. Laay, who served as the head of the investigation committee into the occupied Palestinian territories, issued a report in 2025 accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, which prompted widespread condemnations. This victory is said to represent a collective triumph for human rights and the global pursuit of justice and accountability.
