Raytheon secures $6.3B missile contract

Raytheon has secured a $6.3 billion contract with the U.S. Army to produce and maintain Standard Missile-3 Block IB interceptors over several years. The goal is to rebuild depleted missile defense stockpiles damaged by conflicts in the Middle East and to meet the growing demand for air and missile defense systems. This deal comes as part of the U.S. Department of Defense's efforts to modernize and strengthen its defensive capabilities, especially following major contracts such as a $24.4 billion deal for Standard Missile-6 missiles and a $58.6 billion contract for Patriot missiles, amidst ongoing efforts to expand American arms production despite funding challenges.
