Trump approves 2009 military execution

President Donald Trump has approved the execution by firing squad of Nidal Malik Hasan, the former U.S. Army psychiatrist, who killed 13 people and wounded 30 others in a shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009. This marks the first execution carried out by the U.S. military since 1961, with the execution to be carried out by a military firing squad based on a decision from Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, with the date and location of the execution to be determined by the Secretary of the Army.
