World Food Programme condemns Sudan aid convoy attack

The attack carried out by Rapid Support Forces convoys on World Food Programme trucks in South Kordofan State resulted in one person killed and three crew members injured, despite the clear humanitarian markings on the vehicles. This assault is considered a direct threat to humanitarian efforts and hampers the delivery of essential aid to civilians. Calls for an independent and transparent investigation to identify those responsible have been renewed, with the World Food Programme condemning the incident and calling for those responsible to be held accountable. These developments come amidst escalating security tensions that are obstructing relief operations in the region.
